Behind The Scenes

Who made this?

Due is designed and coded by Junjie (@jjlin), a 26-year-old who graduated from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication in 2010. He decided that journalism—with all the long hours and chasing stories—is too tough for him and decided to rekindle his childhood passion of software development (yes, it's obvious he didn't have a childhood).

Little did he know programming Due would take up every single waking moment for the past four months.

Why another todo list or task management app?

I like to think of Due as more of a reminders app than a todo/checklist/task management app.

While it's true that there are many task management apps out there, I have never aspired to compete with any of them.

In fact, I've personally been using the very powerful task manager OmniFocus to keep track of, among other things, the development of Due.

Due was really born out of my own need for something really simple and fast, where I could pull out the phone, jot down the reminder, set up an alarm, preferably all in 10s or less, and get back to work.

The second question on people's mind when I tell them about what Due does is: why do I need it since I can do all of that in Calendar or <insert some other app, preferably free>?

(The first question being: is it free?)

To put it simply, Due does it faster, better, and with style. To put it in figures, two-three times faster, and less than one-third of the steps needed to setup a reminder compared with Calendar.

If you, like me, think there's simply too much going on in existing apps — start date, end date, due date, projects, priority, tags, custom alerts, context, notes — and can't stand the thought of going through them when you simply need a reminder to buy some groceries on your way home, then yes, Due would be super awesome for you.
